The new design is an evolution of the previous trophy, developed by Glynn Kerr for the new manufacturing process. The design was translated into CAD by surface modeller Florin Baetica before being handed over to Bart Van den Bogaard who coordinated with Hyperpro to machine the trophy on their in-house CNC machine.

Milled from Aluminium billet with a clear anodised finish, the trophy demonstrates a mix of beautiful surfacing with an engineered feel in the combination of smooth and rough milled A & B surfaces.

The first of the new trophies was unveiled at the Designers' Night in Mialn before being presented to Ducati for the 1098, winner of the 2006 design award. Each category winner also received one of 4 trophies, also machined by Hyperpro, polished and inscribed with the MDA logo.
