2005 Motorcycle Design Awards
As usual, the members of the Motorcycle Design Association, over 120 professionals from within the 2-wheel R&D industry worldwide, have been asked to nominate the best designs from all the new models introduced over the previous year. n all the category votes, the winning bike led by a very clear majority - definitively so for the Ducati Hypermotard in the case of the Open Category. And while many members thought there was little of merit in the Scooters & Commuters category, the Peugeot Geopolis nevertheless stood out as the clear winner.

The same was not true for the overall Motorcycle Design Trophy though. No less than 17 models were nominated, splitting the votes throughout the range. Nevertheless, the Hypermotard still came through by a significant margin, receiving 50% more votes than its nearest rival, the Yamaha MT-OS.

Presentation of the awards will take place later in the year.
