2002 Honorary Membership
The MDA is pleased to announce that the 2002 Honorary Membership goes to Willie G. Davidson. Willie has guided the development of the American motorcycle for three decades, and with it, changed our perception of the entire cruiser market.
2002 Motorcycle Design Awards
This year, the MDA has revised the award system, so that we now have four separate categories, and one overall winner for the Design Trophy. The addition of the "Concept Bike" category to the three previous groups means we can now recognise show-bikes and design studies which may never reach production. These bikes nevertheless reflect the most advanced styling exposed to the public.
2001 Honorary Membership
Massimo Tamburini, joint-founder of Bimota, designer of the Ducati 916 and MV Agusta F4, and now chief of CRC, has been awarded the first Honorary Membership of the Motorcycle Design Association.
